The Trenton Generals visit Bay in a week 4 contest. Tommy Lavin led Trenton to a 9-7 record in 2014 and that still wasn't enough to earn a playoff berth in the tough Lombardi Conference. Trenton began their off-season with a huge addition as they traded for linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. Next they traded for another defensive piece adding Safety Da'Norris Searcy. Perhaps the boldest move was yet to come as the Generals swung a deal with Utica to acquire the first pick in the 2015 TFL Draft.
With everyone curious to find out who was number one on the Trenton draft board anticipation was high on draft night. As the pick was revealed Generals fans happily applauded their new running back Jeremy Hill. The importance of a runner to take some pressure off of the passing game makes Hill a logical addition. Now Jay Cutler should have a little easier time moving the offense as opposing teams can no longer focus entirely on shutting down the "Killer De's" DeSean Jackson and DeAndre Hopkins. The Generals already boasted a strong offensive line so moving the ball should be no problem in 2015.
The draft didn't neglect the defense as picks two and three brought Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and OLB Telvin Smith into the fold. Adding these two along with Kerrigan into the mix should really give opposing offenses fits. While Sharif Floyd and Marcel Dareus are plugging the middle of the line and Richard Sherman and Sean Smith shutting down the corners opponents have no place to run and no place to hide.
